Council Sets Spring Meeting Agenda; Discusses Proposal for New GM Job Description

Council held its February meeting on the eighth of the month. We made twelve unanimous decisions regarding nine items on our agenda, and managed to adjourn early.
At the beginning of our meeting, the Governance & Monitoring Committee and the Marketing Department staff were recognized for having made special efforts this year to reach out to our member-owners with new recruitment information and a Question and Answer Session to explain how and why to become a candidate for Council in our annual April election.

As the snow started to fall on January 11, Council began our first regular monthly meeting of the year. It was a credit to the work that Council accomplished in 2010 that we had a light agenda of items to address for the evening, that our last agenda item was the process of updating our Policy Books with all of the changes generated by our actions over the last six months, and that we were able to adjourn the meeting early.
The Interim General Manager’s (IGM) report also reflected the process of ending one year and beginning another. As our managers compile the financial information and other data relevant to assessing the Co-op’s progress during 2010, they are planning many projects and improvements for 2011, while also preparing for the annual membership renewal season and continuing to explore various uses of our 700 West Buffalo property.

Council ended 2010 by deciding on a course for 2011. At our last meeting of the year, held Dec. 14 at Cooperative Extension, we completed business of the past year as we identified ambitious goals for the coming year. We also said goodbyes and expressed appreciations to our departing Councilmember and Treasurer, Art Godin, and our Board Administrator, Betsy Appleton.
