More About the Deli

Every day, GreenStar's Deli presents 50 or more delicious house-made entrees and salads including many vegetarian, vegan and wheat-free options. Whether you're in the mood for a quick snack or dinner and dessert for two, full-service and grab-and-go items are always available at both the West-End and GreenStar Oasis locations.

At GreenStar, quality makes the difference. In the Deli, we strive to use as many local and organic products as possible. All of the beans, grains, pastas, greens, canned tomatoes, and tofu are organic, as well as many of our condiments, oils, vinegars, herbs, and more.

We offer hot soups, entrees, stews and pastas all made from scratch daily. Sandwiches both grilled and chilled, including a full line of breakfast sandwiches, can be made to order or be picked up on the go.

The Oasis location is home to GreenStar's BakeHouse. Nothing can compare to the aroma of our freshly baked bread and naturally and organically sweetened pastries, pies, and cookies including our famous Vegan Chocolate Cake, a delight not to be missed. Of course, all our BakeHouse products are available at the West-End Store as well. All of the flour and many of the ingredients used in the BakeHouse are organic. Wedding and event cakes are available by special order.

Our cheese department is and has been a "member labor" department. Every Wednesday evening, 5 or 6 member-owners gather to cut, wrap, weigh and label the week's cheese. We buy as many local cheeses as possible and are currently buying from 11 local creameries.

GreenStar's Deli is committed to nurturing our deep connection to the earth and do everything we can to reduce waste. For customers enjoying their meals in our dining area, we offer china plates, cups, bowls, and silverware. For carry-out, compostable corn, paper and wheat-based packaging as well as aluminum boxes are available. We compost all our food scraps and avoid excessive packaging when choosing ingredients.

Brunch at GreenStar? Yep, every Sunday from 11-3 — frittata, biscuits and gravy, congee and more.

Daiya cheese now comes in wedges — deliciously dairy-free no matter how you slice it and available in the Deli. We're introducing new Daiya wedges in three flavors: jack, cheddar, and jalapeno garlic havarti. They're ready to enjoy, with no cooking or melting required. Pile them into your favorite sandwich, serve as vegan hors d'oeuvres or just grab a few for a tasty snack! 

Did you know that GreenStar offers a Sunday brunch? We do! Every Sunday between 11 am and 3 pm, we load up the hot bar with a seasonal vegetable frittata, pork or chicken gravy with biscuits, a traditional Asian favorite called congee (rice porridge) with condiments, tofu scramble, home-fried potatoes, and other delicious specials we cook up just for you. Don't slave in your kitchen on a Sunday; just come to your co-op for a lovely ready-made brunch at the Delicatessen!
