On 8/9/11, GreenStar’s Council voted to have the Membership decide on a number of proposed amendments to the Co-op’s Bylaws. All these proposals originated with the Bylaws Review Committee that Council had established, although Council made changes to some of them. The proposed amendments, as shown below, have been grouped into “sets” of related changes. Members can vote Yes or No on an entire set (but not on the individual proposals within a set, if there is more than one). The first 9 sets were (unanimously) recommended for Membership approval by Council; set #10 was passed on by Council (in a split vote) without a recommendation.

As many in GreenStar's membership have already heard, some member-owners who are part of the local organization Committee for Justice in Palestine (CJP) are in the process of gathering signatures for a petition seeking to bring a referendum before the Co-op's membership for a vote this fall. According to a draft shown to Council representatives, the proposed referendum would ask GreenStar to halt the sale of certain Israeli products that the CJP says are associated with the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
